Hobart Institute of Welding Technology announces changes to executive board

André Odermatt

The board of directors of Hobart Institute of Welding Technology, Troy, Ohio, has announced the retirement of longtime Chairman of the Board and President André Odermatt, a position he held for 11 years.

Before working at HIWT, Odermatt was employed at Hobart Brothers Co., where he began in 1964 until his retirement in 2001. In addition to his work with the institute, he authored the book Welding: A Journey to Explore Its Past. He directed the 2005 expansion of HIWT, established the Hobart Gallery of Welding History in 2010, and provided oversight for the 2013 construction project that added 52 welding booths to the facility.

The board has named Scott Mazzulla to the position of president. A graduate of HIWT, he joined the institute in August 2011 as director of planning and development and was appointed vice president in November 2012. He previously served as director of sales for the western and central U.S. regions for ABB’s Robotics Division.
