ABB acquires Gomtec

ABB, Hanover, Germany, has acquired Gomtec GmbH, based near Munich, to expand its offering in the field of collaborative robots. Gomtec is a privately held company that develops mechatronic systems combining mechanical, electrical, telecommunications, control, and computer engineering for customers in diverse industries.

The acquisition of Gomtec complements ABB’s portfolio of human-robot collaborative automation technologies, which includes the new YuMi dual-arm industrial robot for automation of small parts assembly.
