MetoKote adds electrocoating technology to two plants
MetoKote Corp., a custom coating applicator based in Lima, Ohio, has added electrocoating (e-coating) technology at its Sheffield Village, Ohio, and Sumter, S.C., plants. The new Powercron® AdvantEdge™ technology by PPG Industries is a high-edge, cationic-epoxy product formulated with a proprietary metal-free catalyst that eliminates the need for dibutyl tin and other scarce or restricted heavy metals as catalyzing agents.
The e-coating technology is designed to provide high protection of cut, stamped, or formed edges on complex metal parts. It cures at temperatures as low as 320 degrees F to help reduce energy use and related carbon emissions. It also offers a smooth film appearance and corrosion resistance.
