Airtronics adds new laser to robotic fleet

Airtronics Metal Products (AMP) has added a new Amada Gemini FO M2 3015 laser to its 100,000-sq.-ft. San Jose, Calif., plant. The 4,000-W, dual-processing robotic laser machine includes a rotary index to cut medium to thick materials. The rotary index is located on one of three shuttle pallets, simplifying the switch from flat-sheet cutting to tube or pipe cutting.

The rotary index is an integrated unit, allowing the cutting head to be positioned near the chuck to help minimize the dead zone. Bowed pipe or tubing can be cut without vibration while maintaining accuracy from end to end.

The machine has a table capacity of 61 by 121 in. Features include a controllable pneumatic chuck and aluminum roller; automatic switching for tube lengths up to 236 in.; and CAD software preprogrammed with common tubular shapes and configurations.

Airtronics Metal Products Inc. manufactures precision sheet metal products for the semiconductor, medical, networking, food processing, architectural, and consumer electronics industries.
