Prima ships 1,000th CP series industrial laser

Prima North America Inc., Chicopee, Mass., has shipped its 1,000th CP series industrial CO2 laser. The machine is designed for metal cutting and welding in the aircraft, automotive, agricultural equipment, appliance, furniture, mining, and general fabricating sectors. The company reports installations of the machine in Europe, North and South America, Asia, and Australia.

The line of 3- or 4-kW, fast-axial-flow, DC-excited CO2 lasers was designed for simplicity and ease of integration, operation, maintenance, and servicing. The machines offer both CW and pulsing performance while maintaining repeatable beam characteristics. They can handle difficult steel applications and perform piercing, cutting, or welding of other materials without changes to the machine tool setup.
