The Association for Manufacturing Excellence (AME), Rolling Meadows, Ill., has announced the seven recipients of the 2015 winter/spring term Dr. Sherrie Ford Manufacturing as a Career Path Scholarship.
“These select few represent the bright future of manufacturing in America,” said AME President Barbara Morrison. “Their hard work and dedication reflect AME’s mission to ensure the competitiveness of manufacturing operations throughout the U.S., driving organizations to secure successful futures through the pursuit of enterprise excellence and continuous improvement.”
The recipients are:
- Joshua Bowman, currently attending Pennsylvania State University and pursuing concurrent degrees in mechanical and nuclear engineering.
- Tyler Greenwaldt, a senior at St. Cloud State University pursuing a degree in mechanical engineering. After graduation, Greenwaldt plans to either begin his career in manufacturing or continue his education and pursue an advanced degree in mechanical engineering.
- Antonio Ibarra, a senior at Southwest High School in San Antonio, Texas. Ibarra hopes to attend Purdue University in the fall to pursue a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering.
- Erin MacDonald, a first-year master’s student at Oregon Institute of Technology, pursuing a degree in manufacturing engineering technology.
- Willem Marais, currently attending Oregon Institute of Technology and pursuing a master’s degree in manufacturing engineering technology.
- Carlos Reyes, a senior at John F. Kennedy High School in San Antonio, Texas. Reyes hopes to attend the University of Texas in the fall to pursue a degree in biomedical engineering.
- Justine Sherman, a freshman at Worcester Polytechnic Institute pursuing a degree in industrial engineering.
The scholarship honors Dr. Sherrie Ford, who was a renowned consultant in the field of enterprise change and head of Power Partners, recognized as one of the largest women-owned businesses in the U.S.
The scholarship, sponsored by AME and Kronos, is designed for individuals who will graduate from high school this year or who have prior manufacturing experience and have decided to pursue a college education. Fifteen $1,500 scholarships are awarded throughout the course of the academic year, with a $500 signing bonus awarded to recipients who successfully complete their academic program and proceed to acquire a position in a manufacturing industry.
