Lucifer Furnaces equips Laboratory Testing with furnace

Warrington, Pa.-based Lucifer Furnaces has delivered a second Red Devil dual-chamber furnace to Laboratory Testing Inc. (LTI), a materials testing lab near Philadelphia. The furnace is a customized model RD8-KHE24 with Eurotherm 3204 programmable controllers and Honeywell UDC1200 overtemperature controllers.

LTI uses the furnace to perform capability heat-treating to various specifications for ASTM, AMS, GE, and ASME, as well as solution treatment cycles, aging cycles, postweld heat-treating, normalizing, hardening, and tempering.

Both chambers are 12 by 14 by 24 in. The upper chamber is programmed to heat to 2,200 degrees F, while the lower oven reaches 1,200 degrees F. The user can harden in the upper chamber and temper/draw in the lower oven without waiting for a single-chamber unit to cool down.
