Axis Pipe and Tube orders heat-treatment equipment, pipe threading line from SMS Meer

Axis Pipe and Tube, Houston, has ordered heat-treatment equipment and a pipe threading line from SMS Meer, Mönchengladbach, Germany, for its Bryan Works in Texas. With the equipment, the company can produce OCTG used for natural gas and crude oil production.

The heat-treatment line includes a hardening and tempering furnace, a water quenching unit, and a hot straightener. The company is using the line to produce tube grades of up to HCP110.

The pipe threading line features two threading machines that operate on the principle of stationary tool and rotating tube. A hydrostatic pipe tester with a maximum test pressure of 15,000 PSI, a finishing section, and all connecting transport equipment for the threading line are also supplied by SMS Meer. The tubes and pipes processed on the threading machine conform to manufacturing standards as per API 5CT specification.
