Rafter delivers three weld squeeze boxes to tubing producer

Strongsville, Ohio-based Rafter Equipment Corp. has delivered three RT-2500S HFI weld squeeze boxes for a North American mechanical tubing producer. The boxes are used for producing heavy wall thicknesses and high-yield-strength materials.

The design follows the company's push-on-center weld box philosophy that eliminates the cantilever forces on the roll tooling clevises (or yokes). The heavy-duty Timken tapered roller bearings within the roll tools provide increased bearing life, says the company. The boxes can handle up to 3.00-in.-OD by 0.188-in.-wall tube running HSLA material.

The worm-screw head roll adjusters are in a sealed box to reduce maintenance. The head roll adjustments are run through the back of the unit's sealed frame and brought to the operator's side for simplified access. A gasketed, internal guide tube is designed to keep mill coolant from flooding the interior of the box.
