High-nickel alloy intended for welding in corrosive environments

Arcos Industries LLC has introduced the bare-wire and covered-electrode versions of Arcos 59, which is intended primarily for welding in corrosive environments such as chemical processing facilities.
The bare-wire version (ERNiCrMo-13) is a nickel-chromium-molybdenum alloy with extra-low carbon and silicon contents and no tungsten to prevent grain-boundary precipitation during hot forming and welding. It is designed to provide corrosion resistance, high mechanical strength, and increased thermal stability.
Due to its chemical composition, the covered-electrode version (ENiCrMo-13) is resistant to attack by chloride ions in low-PH media, the company reports. Like the bare-wire, the covered-electrode alloy is designed to allow good weldability and low sensitivity to hot cracking.
