Metal-cored electrode designed for cast irons

Select-Arc's 2216-C metal-cored electrode is designed to weld cast irons that demand increased strength at relatively higher temperatures. It is suitable for joining cast irons to alloy and carbon steels.

The electrode features a 41 percent nickel-containing alloy with added stabilizers and yields a uniformly smooth bead with low spatter, good penetration, and nice wash, the company says. The weld metal has high tensile strength in the 90,000 PSI range and also provides 15 percent elongation.

The electrode can be used to weld high-strength nodular or spherical graphite cast irons. Typical applications include automotive exhaust systems, catalytic converters, and the repair and welding of cast iron pipe attachments.
