Metal-cored electrode designed for stainless, other austenitic steels

Select-Arc Inc. has introduced a composite metal-cored electrode for GMAW of stainless and certain other types of austenitic steels.

The composite nature of SelectAlloy 307EU-C provides high deposition rates, fast travel speeds, and a weld deposit that resists hot cracking, the company reports. The electrode conforms to European Standard EN12073, features stable arc transfer, and maintains the ability to bridge gaps and poor fit-up areas. The even distribution of core ingredients allows the electrode to deliver a consistent deposit composition.

The electrode is suitable for welding automotive exhaust systems, especially when joining austenitic stainless to ferritic stainless or carbon steel, ferritic to ferritic stainless, or other dissimilar metals within the exhaust system.
