Blind threaded insert installation tool has autoreverse mode to prevent overinstalling, double installing
- June 27, 2011

- Assembly and Joining
The new ATLAS® AE938 tool for installing blind threaded inserts, available from PennEngineering®, features pressure-controlled setting for installation of the same insert type into various material thicknesses without adjustment. A pull-to-pressure function helps extend the tool’s mandrel life.
The portable tool features an autoreverse mode after fastener installation, which helps accelerate production rates. It prevents overinstalling or double installing.
The tool is engineered for installation of steel, brass, aluminum, and stainless steel blind threaded inserts, which provide strong threads in thin panel sections where only one side of a panel is accessible for hardware installation. Access to both sides is not required. The inserts install from the front and enable fast final attachment of components using a single mating screw.
Supplied with gun and unified or metric tooling, the tool can install blind threaded inserts from #4-40 through 0.375 in. or M3 through M10. Tooling also is available on special request to install blind threaded studs from #8-32 through 0.31 in. or M4 through M8.
