Self-clinching pilot pins designed for positioning, alignment applications

PEM® self-clinching pilot pins, offered in several variations by PennEngineering®, are designed for positioning, alignment, and pivot applications. Once installed in thin metal sheet, they become permanent parts of an assembly.

Type TPS™ (300 series stainless steel) pins install in steel or aluminum sheets, and Type TP4™ (400 series stainless steel) pins are designed for stainless steel assemblies. Both types install flush in sheets 0.040 in. or thicker, feature a chamfered end for quick location of the mating hole, and are available in a variety of sizes and diameters.

Type MPP™ micropins for compact electronic assemblies can be supplied with diameters as small as 0.040 in. and lengths as short as 0.080 in. They install permanently into stainless steel or other sheet materials as thin as 0.020 in. Upon installation, the pin’s head mounts flush with the host panel for a smooth, clean assembly appearance. The pins can be installed automatically to speed production and eliminate handling.

Type TPXS™ self-clinching alignment pins are engineered with a 15-degree tapered point for location of the mating hole when mounting faceplates in telecom rack system applications. Pins are 0.63 in. long, made from 300 series stainless steel, and install permanently in aluminum or steel sheets as thin as 0.040 in.
