Electrode welds zinc-galvanized, primer-coated steels

Select-Arc Inc. has introduced a premium carbon steel, composite metal-cored electrode designed to weld zinc-galvanized and primer-coated steels. Superior arc stability produces spatter-free welds at high travel speeds, the company states.

Select 70C-6 ZN provides a stable arc with fine spray transfer that produces spatter-free welds at travels speeds of 80 IPM with improved side-wall fusion, according to the company. This wire welds over zinc-galvanized and coated carbon steels by offering a stable arc through both standard constant voltage (CV) and pulse parameters. The electrode is an E70C-6M-H4 classification per AWS A5.18.

Available in 0.035, 0.045, and 0.0625 in. dia., the electrode is suitable for welding thin galvanized materials and bare carbon steel components that require spatter-free surfaces.
