Metal-cored wire for robotic, automated welding applications suitable for welding nonalloyed and fine-grain steels

Hobart Brothers offers Hobart® FabCOR® 86R gas-shielded, metal-cored wire for robotic and automated welding applications. The wire operates on both constant-voltage (CV) and pulsed welding power sources and is suitable for welding nonalloyed and fine-grain steels, rail cars, storage vessels, steel structures, and heavy equipment.

The wire provides high deposition rates and efficiencies, along with smooth arc characteristics, the company reports. The wire has low spatter levels and almost no slag coverage, allowing for multipass welding without deslagging and reduced downtime for postweld cleanup.

The wire operates with a shielding gas mixture of 75 to 95 percent argon with a CO2 balance or 95 percent argon and 5 percent oxygen. It produces a weld bead with low diffusible hydrogen to reduce the opportunity for cracking.
