Stainless consumables designed for welding austenitic steels, dissimilar materials

Lincoln Electric has introduced two new lines of stainless welding consumables: Excalibur® stainless stick electrode and Lincolnweld® stainless submerged arc wire and flux.

The stick electrodes are designed to weld several types of austenitic steels and dissimilar materials. Their low carbon levels help eliminate carbide precipitation.

Submerged arc fluxes are available for joining and stainless cladding applications. They produce sound welds with excellent slag removal and bead appearance, the company claims. The fluxes resist moisture pickup and are designed for toughness and ductility with duplex stainless steels.

The submerged arc wire has a low carbon content to minimize the risk of intergranular corrosion.

The new products are available in alloys including 308, 309, and 316. In addition, each stick electrode alloy features multiple coating types designed for good operation in a variety of welding positions. Alloy and coating type designations have been added to the name of each product to simplify customer selection.
