Fiber laser cutting system offers intelligent setup, monitoring functions

Mazak Optonics Corp. has released a new Optiplex fiber laser cutting series. It features Zeta 9 technology, a series of six intelligent setup functions and three intelligent monitoring functions designed to help reduce operator dependency and improve throughput and cut quality, the manufacturer states.

The setup functions are auto nozzle changing, auto focus positioning, focus detection, auto profiler calibration, auto nozzle cleaning, and beam diameter control. The monitoring functions are pierce detection, plasma detection, and burn detection.

Available in 3015 (5- by 10-ft.) and 4020 (6- by 12-ft.) models, the system is designed to process reflective materials at greater speeds than its CO2 counterpart and to help reduce operating costs for applicable material types and thicknesses, according to the company.

The PreView 3 CNC, which features a 15-in. touchscreen control, automatically determines the required processing conditions for the material before cutting.
