YAG, fiber laser monitoring system requires no contact with beam

Ophir Photonics has introduced BeamWatch™, a noncontact focus-spot size and position monitor for high-power YAG and fiber lasers.

Without contacting the laser beam, the system takes measurements every 60 ms, providing instant readings of focus-spot size and beam position, as well as dynamic measurements of focal plane location during process startup. The system is designed for material processing applications that need consistent, high-quality laser performance, including laser cutting, ablating, sintering, drilling, and welding.

The unit monitors high-power YAG, disc, fiber, and diode lasers from 980 to 1,080 nm. It takes frequent measurements without the need to shut down the process or remove extensive tooling and fixtures.
