Laser cladding alloys protect critical industrial components

Wall Colmonoy's Colmonoy®, Colferoloy®, and Wallex™ surfacing powders and wire alloys for laser cladding are designed for the protection and renovation of critical industrial components. Applications include continuous-cast rolls in the steel industry; drill stabilizers, drill strings, and drill bits in the oil and gas industry; boiler tubes and panels in the waste-to-energy industry; and turbine blades and repair for the aerospace industry.

Laser cladding applies a clad overlay with the lowest possible dilution of any conventional welding process, the company states. This allows high first-pass hardnesses. Sound welds with almost zero porosity can be made to minimize the amount of finishing required.
