Coated stainless steel strip designed for electronic component manufacturers

Sandvik has introduced Sandvik Santronic™, a coated stainless steel strip designed for electronic component manufacturers. It can serve as an alternative material for postprocessed electroplated parts in stainless steel or copper-based alloys.

The strip offers high-purity, thin-coated layers of nickel, tin, or silver. In a roll-to-roll process, single- or multiple-layer coatings can be applied to one or both sides of the strip. These coatings offer improved electrical, corrosion, and soldering properties along with the excellent processing properties and technical benefits of stainless steel strip, the manufacturer says.

The material is available in thicknesses from 0.002 to 0.03 in. and in widths up to 31.5 in. Coating consistency is complete along the entire strip length and from batch to batch. The material is 100 percent recyclable.
