Plasma machine drive system redesigned

AKS Cutting Systems has redesigned the drive system on its unitized accu-kut plasma systems.

The new drive system includes helical rack-and-pinion drives, providing smooth and accurate motion, the company states. The inline coupled arrangement of the servomotor and the precision planetary gearbox and pinion gear provides a direct drive, eliminating intermediate belt drives or gears, for ultralow backlash and dynamic positioning accuracy.

Travel speed is 1,200 IPM. Optional features include a second plasma torch, automatic gas console, spot drill, air scriber, and arc writer plate marking systems.
