Plate-processing cell combines plasma, oxyfuel cutting with machining

Ficep Corp. will introduce some of the latest developments in the Gemini 36 HD product line at FABTECH. This multitasking, CNC plate-processing cell combines plasma and oxyfuel cutting with machining to integrate the operations of drilling, milling, tapping, countersinking, and scribing. A 24-station tool magazine is furnished for each of the two spindles to maximize the chip-generation possibilities and process time per part.

The incorporation of automatic plate clamping within the double-bridge gantry eliminates setup time, even when milling is required. Each spindle has an independent subaxis so both spindles can be fully employed even when the required machining operations are not inline.

The machine will be presented with fully programmable dual plasma bevel heads that permit the nesting of beveled material without the need for torch path loops in corners.
