Pneumatic magnetic drill approved for hazardous environment use

The Airbor AB-4300-2R portable magnetic drill from CS Unitec, designed to operate without the possibility of shock or blown circuitry, is ATEX-approved for use in hazardous environments (EX II 2 GcT6). Requiring no electricity, the drill's motor and magnet are powered completely by compressed air. The fail-safe permanent magnet, which has a 1,600-lb. holding strength, turns on and off by air pressure. In the event of a loss of airflow, the magnet will not disengage.

The machine drills holes in diameters up to 2-1/16 in.; with annular cutters it can drill through steel plate up to 4 in. thick. It has a 10-1/4-in. stroke and can be converted to a standard drill press with a geared chuck adapter. With solid twist drills, it is capable of drilling holes up to 1/2 in. dia. in structural steel and other materials. Designed and built for heavy industrial use, the drill is lightweight and has a 1.6-HP air motor, the company states.

Applications include oil and gas refineries, sugar refineries, grain silos, offshore oil, marine, and other process industries.
