Tabletop grinders help keep turret press tooling sharp
- March 15, 2012
- Product Release
- Punching and Other Holemaking
Foremost Machinery Corp. offers Hunton vertical tabletop grinders for workplace sharpening of turret press tooling. According to the company, the grinders produce the same results as an automatic grinder.
The handwheel is graduated in 0.001-in. increments. The grinders use a magnetic chuck for die buttons and a three-jaw chuck for punches.
Six models are available to sharpen most CNC tooling. The BG790 model includes a coolant tank, splash guard, and pump for wet grinding; these are optional on the BG90 model. The S model features a shear-grind chuck that provides for flat top grinding or rooftop grinding up to a 10-degree shear on punches. Optional quick-change adapters, used with the shear-grind chuck, allow for tool sharpening with minimal disassembly.
