Tooling forms hinges in punch press

Fabricators can form many different types, lengths, and diameters of hinges for a variety of applications using hinge tooling from Mate Precision Tooling. The tooling forms hinges in mild steel, aluminum, and stainless steel in thicknesses from 0.030 to 0.060 in., incorporating pin diameters from 0.062 to 0.188 in.

Knuckles are formed from a prepunched flat sheet containing the tabs for the forming operations. Two tools are used in three hits: the first hit with tool 1 produces the radius at the end of the knuckle; the second hit with tool 1 produces the radius at the beginning of the knuckle; and the third hit with tool 2 curls the form to complete the knuckle.

The tooling is available in all styles and station sizes.
