Band saw designed for cutting highly abrasive material

LENOX® has introduced the HRc line of carbide-tipped band saw blades designed to cut highly abrasive materials, such as case-hardened materials, steel-belted tires, railroad track, and chrome-plated shafting.

The blades' micrograined heat- and wear-resistant carbide teeth are applied using a proprietary carbide weld process intended to help prevent the teeth from breaking off and becoming lodged in the workpiece. A reinforced tooth design provides resistance to tooth strippage and facilitates penetration in difficult applications. According to the company, demanding cuts that can take as long as 40 minutes using an abrasive wheel can be accomplished in less than two minutes with the new saw blades.

The blades, which feature steel backing, are available in the following sizes:

  • 1 in. by 0.035 in. (27 mm by 0.90 mm)
  • 1 ¼ in. by 0.042 in. (34 mm by 1.07 mm)
  • 1 ½ in. by 0.050 in. (41 mm by 1.27 mm)
  • 2 in. by 0.063 in. (67 mm by 1.60 mm)
