Engineered mandrel sleeves protect coils from damage

Kastalon offers engineered polyurethane mandrel sleeves, filler plates, and filler rings with various material hardness and surface options. They are designed to protect coils from damage in mill and processing applications.

The products, designed to adapt the mandrel to handle coils with larger IDs, address the problems of damage from creasing, scratching, and marring at mills, service centers, toll processing facilities, and fabrication shops. They protect the inside wraps on coils from metal-to-metal contact.

The mandrel sleeves are custom-designed with engineered surface hardnesses and grooved or smooth finishes, depending on the particular application. Full sleeves usually are recommended for the recoilers, while filler rings and filler plates are used more often for uncoilers.
