Fiber laser offers consumable-free metal part marking

REA Elektronik has developed the REA JET FL fiber laser, which permanently marks metal and plastics. The system uses no consumables and offers long operational life, the company states. The high-resolution print provides machine-readable codes for product traceability.

Typical applications include embossing and color change marking (annealing) of metals, layer removal in day-to-night design, and marking by using laser transfer foils.

The laser can be used for direct part marking (DPM) of metal components. The high beam quality and energy density allow short marking times and small-character readability. Texts and graphics may be freely designed, and the use of TrueType fonts and UTF-8 coding allows the display of international characters.
