Heavy-duty parts cleaner is biodegradable

Birchwood Technologies offers Safe Scrub® ST heavy-duty cleaner for removing oil and surface soils from metal parts. The biodegradable liquid cleaner can be used on parts before or after processing. It emulsifies oil from iron and steel parts, and then holds the oil residues in solution to prevent them from redepositing on the parts.

The cleaner contains biodegradable surfactants and no EPA-regulated metals. It removes mineral oil, grinding coolant, drawing/stamping lubes, and hydraulic oils, as well as water-soluble/synthetic fluids.

Supplied as a liquid concentrate, it can be used as a stand-alone cleaner after metalworking operations or as a precleaner before metal finishing operations such as black oxide coating or phosphating. It operates at temperatures of 120 to 180 degrees F. When the solution is allowed to cool, much of the emulsified oil floats to the surface, allowing removal of the oil with an oil skimmer or coalescing filter.
