Vacuum clamping system allows creation of various welding fixtures

Förster welding systems GmbH offers the Vacufix® vacuum clamping system in connection with the Ergofix® ergonomic manipulator.
The clamping system allows the creation of different welding fixtures for sheet metal structures using a single kit. It features patented high-temperature vacuum chucks for fixing sheets and profiles by vacuum quickly and safely, reports the company. Weld seams are not hidden by clamping arms and can be welded consistently.
The vacuum clamping plate comprises an elastic steel plate as a sealing surface. When the sheet metal part is put on, the ball valve opens, the surface is subjected to a vacuum, and the sheet metal part is sucked from the vacuum chuck. The position of the sheet metal part can be aligned correctly in the first level of vacuum exhaust. In the second extraction level, large holding forces from 40 to 45 kg per vacuum plate fix the position of the sheet metal part.
The manipulator, which is infinitely adjustable in height, can be tilted to 45 degrees and rotated to 360 degrees. It encourages ergonomic posture in the operator and an optimal position of the weld on the module, the company reports.
