In-die spot welding controls reduce weld time

Miyachi Unitek midfrequency inverter spot welding controls can be integrated into assembly processes using progressive dies, inline presses, or transfer presses, enabling users to bypass a secondary operation for attaching fasteners, studs, and so forth, by employing in-die welding.

According to the manufacturer, the controls have the industry's fastest rise to current, which allows the user to take advantage of the high contact resistance to minimize the time required to produce a consistent, good-quality weld. Shorter weld times also facilitate better usage of the weld projection, resulting in reduced weld splash, a smaller HAZ, and less part deformation, the company states.

The ISA range of inverter power supplies are packed in NEMA-style enclosures and can deliver 500, 1,000, 2,000, and 4,000 amps of primary welding current, respectively.
