Servo drive technology helps boost press output

Schuler has announced that its ServoDirect technology now can be retrofitted to conventional flywheel presses with the aid of its patented Dualdrive technology. According to the manufacturer, modernizing presses in this way can boost press productivity by up to 50 percent.

The servomotor mounts directly to the driveshaft. The flywheel and existing drive unit remain unchanged, as do press force before BDC and rated capacity. Existing gear drives do not need adjustment.

The servo drive allows users to program the slide speed freely before and after the forming phase. The slide is moved only by the existing flywheel drive during the forming phase. This shortens cycle times while expanding the range of possible product variants.
