E-courses highlight testing methods to evaluate welds

Hobart Institute of Welding Technology has added two new e-courses to its lineup of online courses.

The Destructive Testing Methods online course concentrates on methods used to evaluate welds by performing tests and determining the weld defects. It contains seven video segments totaling a run time of 43 min. The segments cover introduction to destructive testing, tension testing, impact testing, guided bend testing, nick break testing, fillet weld break testing, and etch testing.

The Nondestructive Testing Methods course features methods to evaluate welds without destroying them. It includes six video segments with a total run time of 45 min. These segments cover introduction to NDT, visual inspection, liquid penetrant testing, magnetic particle testing, ultrasonic testing, and radiographic testing.

Users view videos on their computers at their own pace and can take online review tests along the way. At the conclusion of the video topics, users take a final test. A score of 76 percent or higher earns a certificate of completion that contains the 1.0 continuing education units earned for the online course.
