Flange, base plate scale fits in combination square for multiple measurements

J & B Specialty Tool Inc. offers a new scale for laying out the holes on steel beam flanges and base plates. It temporarily replaces the scale in an existing combination square, according to the manufacturer. Rather than using as many as four other tools and having to readjust the combination square for each measurement, detailers, fitters, and quality personnel can use one scale.

The scale has slots every 0.25 in. and can be used with structural steel from 2 to 8 in. wide. It has a centerline to line up with the web and plate centerlines. The 14-in.-long stainless steel scale is as thick as a typical combination square scale and made to fit into a combination square.
