Portable metrology arm features new wrist design

Hexagon Metrology has introduced the next generation of Romer Absolute Arm, a multiuse, portable metrology tool for inspections in the tube and pipe bending industry. It features a redesigned tube inspection configuration, a new wrist design, and increased stability.

The CMM can be used to inspect a first-article bent tube, find the deviation from the nominal tube, and make bend corrections using noncontact tube probes that gather points around the entire cylinder.

The 6-axis wrist includes a built-in work light and digital camera. Haptic feedback vibrates the wrist and warns the user of possible harmful conditions, making it suitable for noisy shop floor environments. The 7-axis arm is designed to accept an integrated or external high-performance laser scanner at any time.
