Rivian to expand Illinois facility to manufacture midsized SUV

Rivian Automotive Inc. will expand operations at its plant in Normal, Ill., for production of its R2 midsized SUV. The existing plant in Normal will continue to produce R1S, R1T, and commercial electric delivery vehicles.

The automaker has invested more than $2 billion in Normal, and the facility has manufactured more than 100,000 electric vehicles since production began in 2021.
