Kloeckner Metals to host Illinois facility grand opening on May 3

Metal distributor Kloeckner Metals Corp. will host a grand opening event on May 3 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. to celebrate the move of its flat-rolled division to a new, 106,000-sq.-ft. facility in University Park, Ill. Activities during the event will include tours of the new facility and its capabilities, food, and prize giveaways.

After spending nearly 20 years operating out of a 100-year-old building on Chicago’s South Side, the company reports this expansion will allow it to offer more value-added services and expanded processing capabilities. New machinery includes a 72-in. slitter and a cut-to-length line with multiple cassettes to enable more efficient processing of heavy- and light-gauge materials.

The company also rebuilt and remanufactured much of its existing equipment. New precision controls and software have been added to help ensure close-tolerance cut-to-length and slitting work. Increased crane capacity and a larger variety of metal products round out the new services.
