FMA names Plymouth Tube as winner of 2016 Rusty Demeules Award for Safety Excellence

Rockford, Ill.-based Fabricators & Manufacturers Association Intl. (FMA) has announced Plymouth Tube of Streator, Ill., as the winner of the 2016 Rusty Demeules Award for Safety Excellence. The award, presented by FMA and sponsored by insurance provider CNA, was created by FMA’s Safety Council to recognize a company with a demonstrated safety culture. The award is named in honor of Rusty Demeules, a significant volunteer contributor to FMA, who was president of the FMA Safety Committee from 1989 to 1996.

Plymouth Tube has 13 locations. Its Streator plant manufactures cold-drawn, seamless alloy and carbon tubing from steel hollows, specializing in small diameters. It also provides shaped tubing such as squares and rectangles.

Plymouth Tube’s commitment to safety includes its Safety Engagement Program, which focuses on safety tours, meetings, observations, and safety suggestions from employees and helps to generate improvements throughout the facility. Employees are also required to participate in a daily stretch program to help ensure their minds and bodies are ready for a safe day at work.
