FerrouSouth adds light-gauge stretcher leveler

FerrouSouth, a supplier of toll slitting, precision leveling, and stretcher leveling services for hot-rolled steel products to OEMs and service centers, has installed a light-gauge stretcher leveler at its Iuka, Miss., facility.

According to the company, the Red Bud machine, which features a 40-ft. stretcher bed and 1,000 tons of stretching force, handles ultrahigh-strength, high-yield material from 0.054 to 0.1875 by 72 in. while operating at the fastest cycle times possible.

The addition of the leveler gives the company the capability to stretch-level every sheet, regardless of size, gauge, shape, width, or grade, the company reports. It eliminates steel stress and memory, producing laser-flat CTL material for use in high-speed downstream production operations.
