Weld cap sensors detect inclusions, faulty dressing, burrs

Pepperl+Fuchs has introduced WTS10 weld cap sensors. The diffuse-mode sensors check the quality of welding cap fronts and detect faults such as inclusions, faulty dressing, or burrs.
The sensors provide high stability against discrepancies in the position and angle of the welding cap, according to the manufacturer. They check upper and lower welding caps simultaneously and provide prefault (near the limit) indication for proactive maintenance. A push-button teach mode facilitates sensor programming.
The sensors provide increased switching accuracy and can detect minute deviations. They deliver larger light spot diameter and parallel beam path to evaluate every spot on the welding cap equally.
Featuring a scratch-resistant mineral glass lens, the sensors provide position tolerance of ±0.079 and tilt angle tolerance of ± 1.5 degrees. They also provide a consistent detection range of 0.079 in. to 0.472 in. regardless of the length of the welding cap or whether the welding cap is brand-new or a fully dressed tip. Highly visible LEDs indicate "good," "prefault," and "fault" weld tip status.Related Companies
