BTD Mfg. adds tube laser to Minnesota facility

Metal fabricator BTD Mfg. has added a BLM 4K Fiber LT7 tube laser to its production facility in Lakeville, Minn. With the machine, the company can process a variety of materials, including aluminum, stainless steel, and steel.

The laser processes round, square, and rectangular profiles, as well as special-shaped tubes, angle iron, channel, and flat bar. According to the company, the machine offers optimal cutting performance even on thick-walled steel for weld preparations and interlocking joints with a +/-45-degree tilt.

The system features an internal suction probe that can be used when processing tubes to catch debris and vacuum out particles automatically. Its Active Scan feature automatically calculates any compensations needed to ensure tolerances are achieved, regardless of misshapes or insufficient rigidity, the company states.
