Donaldson Co. offers new white paper on controlling hexavalent chromium

A new technical article entitled "Hexavalent Chromium: What You Need to Know," authored by Donaldson Co. Inc., Minneapolis, has been released for industrial manufacturers involved in welding, stainless steel fabrication, and thermal spray coatings.

Controlling and capturing hexavalent chromium has become an issue for manufacturers because OSHA has re-defined the permissible exposure limit (PEL) for hexavalent chromium to one-tenth of the previous PEL.

Authored by Jeff Abelson, technical services manager for the company's Donaldson Torit brand of dust, fume, and mist collection and filtration systems, the white paper addresses questions most manufacturers face on how to meet the new OSHA requirements, including how workers are exposed to hexavalent chromium, what responsibilities employers have, and how hexavalent chromium can be captured and controlled.

The white paper is available free of charge from Donaldson and can be read online at www.donaldson.com/en/industrialair/literature/061914.pdf. A printed copy can be obtained by e-mailing a request to donaldsontorit@donaldson.com.
